Artist statement: This politics of silence oozed forth from puffer fish politicians longing for a cold war. These pop star and movie star leaders of men, fantasising tall tales like unsupervised children playing games, and pushing for a Return to the atomic fuelled cold war and frozen conversations long past. This thinly vailed Shirt front style of politics appealing to a nationalist projection, a camouflage of weakness, seeking votes at the expense of casualties. Aeroplanes have a personal connection in my practice and here they become a vessel of commentary and storytelling. Soviet diecast military toy planes re cast in luminescent resin evocative of some fifties nuclear accident or b-grade film.
